Group Bible Study

Exploring the books of the Bible in a small group setting

Study Guide

Questions, Answers and Hints for using these studies as an individual or in a small group setting.

Where to start?
As this website is developed, there will be multiple tabs across the top menu bar pointing you to various books of the Bible.  At this time, the Book of Luke is where I have focused my teaching and research.

If you are not at all familiar with the Book of Luke, it may be a good idea to start at the beginning with the first study.  It may also be helpful to read through the Book of Luke in your bible and choose a portion that seems particularly interesting or one that you would like to know more about.

Once you identify a study you'd like to explore, click on the link for that particular section.  The page will open up and you then have the option of reading the study online or printing it out for further reading.  To print the web page content, simply highlight the text with your cursor, right-click and select the 'print' function.

How does one use these studies?
The studies are designed with group interaction in mind.  I would like to help people explore the depths of God’s Word by using questions that focus on the text.  There are three kinds of questions used in the studies:

  • 1) Observation Questions.  These questions ask “What does the passage say?”
  • 2) Interpretation Questions.  What did the writer intend for us to understand from what has been written?
  • 3) Application Questions.  How should we live out these words today in the 21st century?  How do we apply them to our lives?

Some of the studies that you find on this website are just composed of questions, while others are written to also answer some of the questions, i.e. the Luke Bible studies.  The Luke Bible studies are written for groups but also for the person who has no group but yet still would like to understand the Gospel of Luke.
